Hey….Don’t Forget Space Ads in Your Small Business Marketing

By: Bill Glazer on: September 17th, 2009 7 Comments

Let’s talk about newspaper and magazine advertising which is commonly referred to as “Space” advertising.

In many ways, this form of advertising is one of the harder media to make work in small business marketing. Mainly because it typically is a rather costly media and depending on the size of your transaction, it can be very difficult to earn a return on your investment (ROI).

Of course, ROI can vary between whether you are only looking at how much the ad costs verses how much in sales revenue it generated or how many new customers you acquired from the ad and what is their lifetime value to your business.

Get Your Butt in Here and Give Me a “NOT-New” Idea or You’re Fired!

Fantasy Island was Love Boat on ground. Two And A Half Men is a sad copy of The Odd Couple.

The Apprentice is Survivor. American Idol is half Gong Show, half Star Search.

Movie output features comic books and remakes of old TV shows. There’s no welcome mat at movie or TV studios for original ideas. Such things are very rare and must fight to survive.

The demand heard, as soon as there’s a success is “give me a copy of that but different.” FOR GOOD REASON. Entertainment industry leaders recognize the heightened risks of leadership, and much prefer the less hazardous pursuit of mimicry, riding rather than creating trends, re-labeling, re-cycling. In some instances their theft is blatant and obvious.

In other cases, less noticeable to the public but easily recognized by insiders.

3 Common Habits Of Successful Entrepreneurs

By: Bill Glazer on: September 14th, 2009 3 Comments

As you might imagine, with tens of thousands of GKIC Members and actually working first hand with nearly 200 people in Peak Performers, VIP-Mastermind, Info-MASTERMIND and my personal clients, I see a lot and learn a lot about Entrepreneurs. I was thinking the other day about the traits that the most successful ones have in common and I’ve identified the three most common ones.

HABIT #1: They READ a lot…especially books. In fact, when I first discovered “Planet Dan” way back in 1995 the first thing that I did when I figured out that this Direct Response stuff really works is to become a veracious reader. I first began with the classics like John Caples, Robert Collier, David Ogilvy, Gary Halbert and of course everything Dan Kennedy wrote.

Do You Suffer from Frequent or Persistent Anxiety?

By: Dan Kennedy on: September 10th, 2009 8 Comments

David and Lucinda Basset, long-ago clients, have made millions by asking that question. It has broader appeal than you might think, because, it turns out, just about everybody is anxious and nervous and on edge about all sorts of things.

The media makes part of its living by hyping various “terrors” in order to keep us tuning in to the news programs – consider: Y2K; anthrax; bird flu; how terrorists could poison our water supply; etc. John Stoessel just did a 20/20 program on ABC about everything people are worrying about in sizeable numbers – in almost every case, hazards grossly magnified by their own negative imaginations.
