I might add that "periodic maintenance" is another key to business success. If you "tune up" your systems based on a diagnosis of your results, you'll keep things humming along and get better mileage from your efforts. However, I haven't yet figured out the benefit of hanging "fuzzy dice" from your rear-view mirror in a business... Great analogy, Robert.

I cannot believe this article. It is dejavu! I've been working on a book called "Hot Rod Your Business" It's about how starting and running a business is similar to building a high performance car. You find that particular vehicle - old cars in my case - and you restore it, fix it up, soup it up and make it the best it can be. I've built and restored over 50 cars and I can honestly tell you, it is very close to building a business from the ground up. Same goes for your business, it takes B.S.T. -blood, sweat and tears- to make it go. It won't happen just dreaming about it. You gotta get out there and get dirty, invent a few new curse words and in the end, maybe you to can burn some rubber in that hot rod you created. WOW! I cannot believe this article. It is dejavu! In my own experience, every time I took time to track and measure personal financial results, the results grew. This is no different. Tracking these metrics and some others will get you to your goal faster. "What you focus on expands" is just as true in this arena as any other. I love what you said about the dashboard.
